DES(1-3) IGF-1 is a truncated form of insulin-like growth factor 1, missing the first three amino acids of the chain. That truncation lowers its affinity for binding proteins. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.

What is in the vial

Two manufacturers supply this form, both in 1 mg vials; Nouveaux Ltd. does not list it. A 1 mg vial with 1 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 1 mg per millilitre, with 2 ml half that. At this vial size the water volume decides the concentration completely, so the arithmetic in the guides on reconstitution and syringe units is worth going through first.

Where it sits

It belongs to the same axis as IGF-1 LR3 and MGF: molecules aimed at the PI3K, Akt and mTOR pathway that raises muscle protein synthesis. The differences between them are in how long they stay active and how strongly they bind carrier proteins, not in the pathway itself.

The truncation is the whole point of this variant. Removing the first three amino acids weakens the grip of the binding proteins that hold natural IGF-1 inactive, which is meant to make more of it available for a shorter time. How that compares with the LR3 modification is set out in IGF-1 LR3 and DES(1-3) IGF-1.

What the evidence is

There are no published human trials of DES(1-3) IGF-1 for muscle applications, and no established human dose. As with the rest of this group, what is known comes from animal and cell work. The wider picture, including why myostatin blockers sit alongside these molecules, is in the muscle peptides guide.

We publish no dosing schedules, for the same reason: there is no trial to take one from.

Status

Not an approved medicine. The IGF-1 family sits in category S2 of the World Anti-Doping Agency list, prohibited at all times. The risks described for this family in animals include hypoglycaemia and suppression of the body’s own growth hormone axis.

Handling and verification

Supplied as lyophilised powder. Storage rules change once it is dissolved: see storage. Check the code under the hologram and the batch certificate as described in check your product. We ship within Poland and abroad; outside Poland the cost is quoted individually, depending on weight and destination country. Details: shipping and payments.

Questions

What does DES(1-3) mean?

That the first three amino acids of the IGF-1 chain are missing. That truncation lowers the molecule’s affinity for its binding proteins.

How does it differ from IGF-1 LR3?

Both escape the binding proteins, by different modifications, and the practical difference is how long each stays available.

Are there human trials?

None for muscle applications, and no established human dose.

Is it allowed in sport?

No. Category S2, prohibited at all times.
