Glutathione is a tripeptide of cysteine, glycine and glutamic acid, produced naturally in cells. It acts as an antioxidant, takes part in detoxification, and its concentration falls with age. Those facts are not disputed. What follows is. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.

What is in the vial

Bio-Peptide is the only manufacturer offering glutathione here, in a 1000 mg vial, one of the largest in this catalogue. For scale: the compounded preparation involved in the FDA safety report described below contained 1400 mg per patient. A 1000 mg vial with 10 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 100 mg per millilitre; the arithmetic is in the guide on reconstitution.

Purity of the preparation

A case reported in 2019, with adverse effects after a compounded L-glutathione preparation, was linked to probable high endotoxin levels, that is, to the purity of the preparation. That is why the batch certificate matters with glutathione.

What the evidence is

Only one placebo-controlled study has tested intravenous glutathione for skin lightening, and it found no significant difference. There are no dosing or duration guidelines. Risks listed in the literature include toxicity to the liver, kidneys and nervous system, anaphylaxis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

Why the endotoxin detail matters

The seven-patient report is not a story about the molecule being toxic. It is a story about what was in the vial besides the molecule. Endotoxin contamination comes from manufacturing, and the only document that says anything about it for a given batch is the certificate of analysis. That is the practical reason we insist on checking it: see check your product and, for the comparison with the other longevity injectables, NAD and glutathione injections.

Status

No injectable glutathione preparation is approved for skin lightening in the United States, and this vial is research material rather than any registered product. We publish no dosing schedules; there are none to publish, since no clinical trial established one.

Handling and verification

Supplied as lyophilised powder. Storage rules change once it is dissolved: see storage. We ship within Poland and abroad; outside Poland shipping costs 30 EUR paid in advance or 80 EUR cash on delivery, the same for every country. Details: shipping and payments.
