IGF-1 LR3, 1 mg. IGF-1 LR3 is a modified analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1, built to bind carrier proteins weakly and stay active longer than the natural molecule.

What is in this vial

All three brands of IGF-1 LR3 here come in the same 1 mg vial, so the choice between them is a choice of manufacturer and price, not of quantity. The powder has no concentration of its own: it is set when you add the water. This vial with 1 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 1 mg per millilitre, and with twice that volume, half as much.

The conversion of an amount into insulin syringe units is worked through in the guide on syringe units, and the rules that change once the powder is dissolved are in storage.

Bio-Peptide as the manufacturer

Bio-Peptide has the widest catalogue of the three brands we stock: it is the only one supplying glutathione, NAD+, GHK-Cu, MOTS-C, SLU-PP-332 and semaglutide, so an order from this manufacturer can usually be filled from one supplier. Every vial carries a code under the hologram and a batch certificate, and how to check both is described on the verification page.

What the evidence says

No human pharmacokinetic study of this analogue has been published, and there are no efficacy or safety data for muscle applications. Hypoglycaemia is the risk most often listed. The full account, with the sources and the limits, is on the IGF-1 LR3 page, and the background in the guide on IGF-1 LR3 and DES(1-3) IGF-1.

We publish no dosing schedules. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.

All three brands fill IGF-1 LR3 in 1 mg vials, and at that size the volume of water decides everything: 1 ml gives 1 mg per millilitre, 2 ml gives half that. Bio-Peptide also supplies DES(1-3) IGF-1, the short-acting cousin, so the two forms can be compared within one brand.

Concentration in this vial

Water added Concentration Per unit on a U-100 syringe
1 ml 1 mg/ml 10 mcg
2 ml 0.5 mg/ml 5 mcg
5 ml 0.2 mg/ml 2 mcg

The table is arithmetic and nothing else: it converts the 1 mg in this vial into the concentration you get for a chosen volume of bacteriostatic water. It is not a dosing recommendation, and we publish none.

The same compound is sold here in two other versions: Genheal, 1 mg and Nouveaux Ltd., 1 mg. The molecule is identical in each; what differs is the manufacturer. All three hold the same amount, so the choice here is the manufacturer and its batch certificate, not the size.

Also from Bio-Peptide in this group

Within Muscle peptides, Bio-Peptide also supplies ACE-031 10 mg, DES(1-3) IGF-1 1 mg and Follistatin 344 1 mg.

What the IGF-1 axis is and why it is targeted

IGF-1 is a growth factor that, once bound to its receptor, switches on the pathway labelled PI3K, Akt and mTOR. This pathway increases muscle protein synthesis and slows protein breakdown by blocking proteins of the FOXO family. It also stimulates satellite cells, which take part in building muscle fibres. That mechanism is the basis of all the interest in this group, but it describes what natural IGF-1 does in the body, not what giving its analogue from outside achieves.

What LR3 means

Natural IGF-1 circulates in the blood bound to carrier proteins that limit its availability. The LR3 modification changes the molecule so that it binds to them more weakly, and as a result it stays in its active form for longer. The way it acts on the receptor stays the same; what changes is how available the molecule is.

Risks listed for this molecule

Risk What it involves
Hypoglycaemia A drop in blood sugar
Suppression of the body's own axis Feedback in the hypothalamus and pituitary dampens growth hormone and IGF-1 release, described in animals

The second risk matters because it concerns the very system that was meant to be strengthened: giving a growth factor from outside can lower the body's own production, which is how most hormonal loops work.

What is in the molecule

IGF-1 LR3 is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain of 83 amino acids. It contains the full sequence of human IGF-1 with arginine in place of glutamic acid at position 3, which is where R3 in the name comes from, and a 13 amino acid extension at the N-terminal end, which is the Long part. Its molecular mass is 9111.6 daltons. It is produced in E. coli and purified in several chromatography steps.

Two ampoules, two concentrations

The Bio-Peptide box holds two 1 ml solvent ampoules. Dissolved in one millilitre, the 1 mg vial gives 1000 mcg per millilitre, or 10 mcg per syringe unit; in two millilitres it gives 500 mcg per millilitre and 5 mcg per unit, a scale twice as fine. Typical peptide packs hold 5 or 10 mg, so work the numbers out before the first draw rather than carrying over a habit from another product. Add the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial, do not shake it, and keep the solution in the fridge at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, away from light.

Who this vial is for

You want to choose the concentration yourself: two ampoules give you that. You would rather have nothing to prepare: the Nouveaux Ltd. cartridge has the solvent in a second chamber. IGF-1 LR3 is on the World Anti-Doping Agency list in category S2 and is prohibited at all times, which an athlete subject to testing needs to know before buying.

How much stronger LR3 is: the Adelaide studies

IGF-1 LR3 was developed by researchers at the Australian science agency CSIRO in Adelaide, and the same team tested it in several rat models. In most studies the peptide was given continuously, through a small pump implanted under the skin. It was compared with ordinary IGF-1.

Study Model LR3 result
Tomas, 1992 rats wasted by a steroid, 7 days about 2.5 times stronger than IGF-1 at holding back weight loss
Tomas, 1993 healthy growing female rats, 14 days 44 µg a day gave the effect of 278 µg of ordinary IGF-1
Tomas, 1993 diabetic rats, 7 days 2.5 to 3 times stronger at restoring growth
Lemmey, 1994 rats after removal of part of the intestine improved weight gain and food use more strongly

The second row gives the simplest arithmetic: LR3 acted about 6 times more strongly than ordinary IGF-1 in healthy growing animals. There, the highest dose of ordinary IGF-1 increased weight gain, nitrogen retention and feed use by 18 to 26 percent. Body and organ proportions were preserved.

In diabetic rats, all the peptides tested increased protein synthesis in muscle by up to 50 percent, with ordinary IGF-1 the weakest. In these papers the weight gain came from added protein, not fat.

All these results come from rat studies. No clinical trials of LR3 in humans have been published. All the papers from the Adelaide team are gathered in the guide IGF-1 LR3 and DES(1-3) IGF-1.

Questions

How much IGF-1 LR3 is in this vial?

1 mg of lyophilised powder from Bio-Peptide, in one vial.

What concentration does 2 ml of water give?

0.5 mg per millilitre, which is 5 mcg per unit on a U-100 insulin syringe. Other volumes are in the table above.

Is this the same molecule as the Genheal vial?

Yes. IGF-1 LR3 is the same compound in every vial here, and both hold 1 mg. What differs is the manufacturer and the batch certificate that comes with it.
