MT-2 (Melanotan II), 10 mg. Melanotan II is a synthetic form of alpha-MSH that produces skin pigmentation. It is unlicensed and largely unstudied, with no approval for medical use in any country.

What is in this vial
Both brands of MT-2 (Melanotan II) here come in the same 10 mg vial, so the choice between them is a choice of manufacturer and price, not of quantity. The powder has no concentration of its own: it is set when you add the water. This vial with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 5 mg per millilitre, and with twice that volume, half as much.
The conversion of an amount into insulin syringe units is worked through in the guide on syringe units, and the rules that change once the powder is dissolved are in storage.
Bio-Peptide as the manufacturer
Bio-Peptide has the widest catalogue of the three brands we stock: it is the only one supplying glutathione, NAD+, GHK-Cu, MOTS-C, SLU-PP-332 and semaglutide, so an order from this manufacturer can usually be filled from one supplier. Every vial carries a code under the hologram and a batch certificate, and how to check both is described on the verification page.
What the evidence says
Tested products have shown inconsistent amounts of the substance, so the batch certificate matters. Reports include melanoma, darkening of moles and rhabdomyolysis. The full account, with the sources and the limits, is on the MT-2 (Melanotan II) page, and the background in the guide on the libido and tanning group.
We publish no dosing schedules. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.
Tested melanotan II products have shown inconsistent amounts of the substance, which makes the batch certificate on this page less of a formality than elsewhere. Bio-Peptide and Genheal both fill 10 mg, and no other brand here lists the compound.
Concentration in this vial
| Water added | Concentration | Per unit on a U-100 syringe |
|---|---|---|
| 1 ml | 10 mg/ml | 100 mcg |
| 2 ml | 5 mg/ml | 50 mcg |
| 5 ml | 2 mg/ml | 20 mcg |
The table is arithmetic and nothing else: it converts the 10 mg in this vial into the concentration you get for a chosen volume of bacteriostatic water. It is not a dosing recommendation, and we publish none.
This vial next to the other MT-2 (Melanotan II) vials
The same compound is sold here in one other version: Genheal, 10 mg. The molecule is identical in each; what differs is the manufacturer. Both hold the same amount, so the choice here is the manufacturer and its batch certificate, not the size.
Also from Bio-Peptide in this group
Within Libido and tanning, Bio-Peptide also supplies PT-141 10 mg.
The first human study in numbers
Melanotan II was designed by scientists at the University of Arizona in Tucson. A tan appeared already in the first human study, published in Life Sciences in 1996. Three healthy men took part. For two weeks, Monday to Friday, they received a subcutaneous injection, alternating the peptide and saline.
| What was measured | Result |
|---|---|
| Number of peptide doses | 5, every other working day |
| Skin darkening | in 2 of 3 people: face, upper body, buttocks |
| When the change was measured | one week after the last dose |
| How it was measured | with a device that measures light reflected from the skin |
| Other effects | mild nausea, yawning, spontaneous erections lasting 1-5 hours |
The tan developed without deliberate sun exposure. The device turns skin colour into a number, so the change was not judged by eye. The authors called melanotan II an analogue with an extraordinarily strong effect on pigment cells.
What studies of its older sibling add
More data on tanning without sun comes from research on melanotan I, or afamelanotide, from the same laboratory. It acts on the same MC1R receptor on melanocytes. Its results show how skin responds to this group of molecules, although they do not carry over directly to melanotan II.
- JAMA, 1991: in 28 healthy men the skin darkened both in those who tan poorly and in those who tan easily. It was darkest one to three weeks after the last dose.
- Photochemistry and Photobiology, 2000: the amount of dark pigment, eumelanin, rose by 98 percent on average in forearm skin and by 49 percent in forehead skin.
- Archives of Dermatology, 2004: the group without the peptide needed 50 percent more time in the sun to reach the same shade. The tan with the peptide lasted at least three weeks longer.
One practical point follows from this work. Synthetic melanotropin switches melanocytes to eumelanin, and skin colour keeps darkening for several weeks after dosing ends. The studies are described in detail in the guide Melanotan 2 and tanning.

Questions
How much MT-2 (Melanotan II) is in this vial?
10 mg of lyophilised powder from Bio-Peptide, in one vial.
What concentration does 2 ml of water give?
5 mg per millilitre, which is 50 mcg per unit on a U-100 insulin syringe. Other volumes are in the table above.
Is this the same molecule as the Genheal vial?
Yes. MT-2 (Melanotan II) is the same compound in every vial here, and both hold 10 mg. What differs is the manufacturer and the batch certificate that comes with it.
Verification and delivery
Every vial carries a code under the hologram and comes from a batch with a certificate of analysis; how to check both is described in check your product. We ship within Poland and abroad. Outside Poland shipping costs 30 EUR paid in advance or 80 EUR cash on delivery, the same for every country: shipping and payments.
