PT-141, 10 mg. PT-141, bremelanotide, is a melanocortin receptor agonist and one of the few molecules in this catalogue with a drug approval behind it.

What is in this vial

Both brands of PT-141 here come in the same 10 mg vial, so the choice between them is a choice of manufacturer and price, not of quantity. The powder has no concentration of its own: it is set when you add the water. This vial with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 5 mg per millilitre, and with twice that volume, half as much.

The conversion of an amount into insulin syringe units is worked through in the guide on syringe units, and the rules that change once the powder is dissolved are in storage.

Bio-Peptide as the manufacturer

Bio-Peptide has the widest catalogue of the three brands we stock: it is the only one supplying glutathione, NAD+, GHK-Cu, MOTS-C, SLU-PP-332 and semaglutide, so an order from this manufacturer can usually be filled from one supplier. Every vial carries a code under the hologram and a batch certificate, and how to check both is described on the verification page.

What the evidence says

Approved in the United States as Vyleesi in 2019 for one narrow indication in premenopausal women. In the registration trials the effect was moderate and the label states the mechanism is not known. The full account, with the sources and the limits, is on the PT-141 page, and the background in the guide on the libido and tanning group.

We publish no dosing schedules. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.

The molecule in this vial is the one approved in the United States as Vyleesi, where the autoinjector delivers 1.75 mg. Bio-Peptide fills 10 mg here, which puts the scale of a research vial next to a registered medicine in plain numbers.

Concentration in this vial

Water added Concentration Per unit on a U-100 syringe
1 ml 10 mg/ml 100 mcg
2 ml 5 mg/ml 50 mcg
5 ml 2 mg/ml 20 mcg

The table is arithmetic and nothing else: it converts the 10 mg in this vial into the concentration you get for a chosen volume of bacteriostatic water. It is not a dosing recommendation, and we publish none.

This vial next to the other PT-141 vials

The same compound is sold here in one other version: Genheal, 10 mg. The molecule is identical in each; what differs is the manufacturer. Both hold the same amount, so the choice here is the manufacturer and its batch certificate, not the size.

Also from Bio-Peptide in this group

Within Libido and tanning, Bio-Peptide also supplies MT-2 (Melanotan II) 10 mg.

A registration that concerns the medicine, not this vial

Vyleesi was approved for a narrow indication: treatment of premenopausal women with acquired, generalised hypoactive sexual desire disorder. The condition has to cause marked distress or interpersonal difficulty and must not result from another illness, from medicines taken or from problems in the relationship.

Three things set the medicine apart from research material: the medicine has an established dose, goes through batch quality control and comes in a ready autoinjector. A vial of powder gives none of these, although it holds the same molecule.

A mechanism nobody fully knows

Bremelanotide is a melanocortin receptor agonist: it binds to these receptors and stimulates them. They are found, among other places, in the central nervous system and are linked to sexual function. The product information nevertheless states plainly that the way the medicine improves desire remains unknown. Melanotan II acts on the same family of receptors but mainly causes skin pigmentation; the two molecules are related, and their profiles differ clearly.

How effective it was in the registration trials

Group Share with a desire score increase of 1.2 points or more
Bremelanotide About 25 per cent
Placebo About 17 per cent

The difference is real and was enough for approval, but calling it moderate is more honest than calling it a breakthrough. We give the figures so that you can judge the size of the effect yourself.

Two concentrations

The Bio-Peptide box holds two solvent ampoules. Dissolving the whole 10 mg in one millilitre gives 100 mcg per syringe unit; in two millilitres it gives 50 mcg per unit and a scale twice as fine. The choice is made once, when dissolving, and a second ampoule also helps if the first one breaks when opened.

Who the drug worked for and what participants reported

The numbers below come from studies of Vyleesi, the drug containing bremelanotide, run under medical supervision. The vial in the shop contains the same molecule, but it is research material and does not carry over the drug's approval.

After the main RECONNECT trials, further analyses were carried out. A 2022 analysis split 1202 participants by age, body weight, BMI and testosterone level. Improvement in desire and a fall in distress appeared in all these groups, with few exceptions.

Side effect Women on bremelanotide
Nausea 40.0 percent, against 1.3 percent on placebo
Facial flushing 20.3 percent
Headache 11.3 percent
Injection-site reactions 5.4 percent

The data come from a safety review of the whole study programme, which covered 3500 people in 43 studies. Nausea was the most common reason for stopping treatment, but according to the label it eased with later doses in most women. After each dose blood pressure rises temporarily and heart rate slows, usually returning to normal within 12 hours.

What the participants themselves said

In a 2021 study, 242 participants filled in a questionnaire and 80 took part in a telephone interview, before they knew whether they had received the drug. Women taking PT-141 described a rise in desire, physical arousal and the quality of intimacy. Women in the placebo group also spoke of benefits, but different ones: starting treatment at all and better communication with their partner. No physical reactions were reported in that group. All the studies are described in the guide PT-141 in women.

Questions

How much PT-141 is in this vial?

10 mg of lyophilised powder from Bio-Peptide, in one vial.

What concentration does 2 ml of water give?

5 mg per millilitre, which is 50 mcg per unit on a U-100 insulin syringe. Other volumes are in the table above.

Is this the same molecule as the Genheal vial?

Yes. PT-141 is the same compound in every vial here, and both hold 10 mg. What differs is the manufacturer and the batch certificate that comes with it.

Verification and delivery

Every vial carries a code under the hologram and comes from a batch with a certificate of analysis; how to check both is described in check your product. We ship within Poland and abroad. Outside Poland shipping costs 30 EUR paid in advance or 80 EUR cash on delivery, the same for every country: shipping and payments.
