Two products in this category, both 5000 IU vials of human chorionic gonadotropin. This is the one group in the shop where the substance is the active ingredient of registered prescription medicines rather than an unapproved research compound, and that changes what can honestly be written about it.

What HCG is

Human chorionic gonadotropin is a glycoprotein hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy. It has luteinising hormone activity, meaning it acts on the same receptors. In men, luteinising hormone stimulates the Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone, and that is where the sporting interest in this substance comes from.

Its status as a medicine

Chorionic gonadotropin is the active substance of registered medicines, not an unregistered research compound. The Polish register of medicinal products lists Pregnyl 5000 IU, a powder and solvent for solution for injection, with chorionic gonadotropin as the active substance. The recombinant equivalent, choriogonadotropin alfa, is registered in the European Union as Ovitrelle.

The Ovitrelle product information states it directly: the medicine is available on prescription only, and treatment should be supervised by a doctor experienced in fertility treatment.

That is why this page describes what the substance is, how it acts and what its status is, and stops there. Dose selection belongs to a doctor. We do not publish administration schedules, and we do not walk anyone through protocols built around other prescription medicines.

Its status in sport

The World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list for 2026 came into force on 1 January 2026. Section S2.2.1, titled testosterone-stimulating peptides in males, names chorionic gonadotropin explicitly, alongside luteinising hormone, gonadorelin with its agonist analogues, and kisspeptin.

One detail in that section is worth reading carefully, because it differs from the rest of the list: the prohibition in S2.2.1 applies to men. For women this entry does not apply. That is unlike section S2.2.4, covering growth hormone secretagogues, where the ban is not sex-dependent.

Practical notes

The vials contain lyophilised powder, dosed in international units rather than milligrams, which is unusual in this catalogue. Reconstitution follows the same rules as for peptides: liquid added down the wall of the vial, no shaking, refrigeration afterwards. See reconstituting a peptide and storing peptides. How to check that a vial is genuine is in how to spot a counterfeit peptide.

Frequently asked questions

Is HCG a registered medicine?

The substance is. Pregnyl 5000 IU is registered in Poland, and the recombinant equivalent Ovitrelle is registered in the European Union, both on prescription.

Is HCG banned in sport?

For men, yes. It is named in section S2.2.1 of the 2026 World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list. That entry applies to men and not to women.

Why does this page not give a dosing schedule?

Because chorionic gonadotropin is the active substance of prescription medicines. Dose selection belongs to a doctor, and product information for the registered medicines states that treatment should be supervised by a specialist.

What is the difference between these vials and Pregnyl?

A registered medicine is manufactured, tested and released under pharmaceutical rules and comes with product information. Research material is not, and its labelling does not change the legal status of the substance.

Can I order this from outside Poland?

Shipping abroad is possible, but check first whether chorionic gonadotropin is a prescription-only substance where you live, because in most of Europe it is.
