IGF-1 LR3 is a modified analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1, designed to bind carrier proteins weakly and so remain active longer than the natural molecule. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.

What is in the vial

All three manufacturers supply 1 mg vials, so the reconstitution arithmetic matters more than elsewhere: 1 mg with 1 ml of water gives 1 mg per millilitre, and with 2 ml, 0.5 mg per millilitre. With a vial this small, an error in the water volume changes the concentration several times over, which is why the conversion into insulin syringe units is worth reading before opening it: syringe units and reconstitution.

The mechanism, and where the data stop

IGF-1 binds its receptor and activates the PI3K, Akt and mTOR pathway, which raises muscle protein synthesis, limits breakdown by blocking FOXO proteins and stimulates satellite cells. That pathway is well described.

What is not described is what the analogue does in people. No human pharmacokinetic study of IGF-1 LR3 has been published; everything known about its distribution and breakdown comes from rodent models, and there are no efficacy or safety data for muscle applications. The full picture is in the muscle peptides guide.

How it differs from DES(1-3) IGF-1

Both are modifications of the same molecule aimed at the same receptor, and both were built to escape the carrier proteins that hold natural IGF-1 inactive. LR3 does it by an added chain and a substitution, DES(1-3) by removing the first three amino acids. The consequence is a difference in how long each stays available, compared in the guide on IGF-1 LR3 and DES(1-3) IGF-1.

Described risks and status

Sources list hypoglycaemia, a drop in blood sugar, and suppression of the body’s own growth hormone and IGF-1 axis through hypothalamic and pituitary feedback, described in animals. IGF-1 LR3 is not an approved medicine and is prohibited in sport at all times under category S2.

We publish no dosing schedules. For a molecule with no human pharmacokinetic study, a schedule taken from a forum is a guess with a decimal point in it.

Handling and verification

Supplied as lyophilised powder. Storage rules change once it is dissolved: see storage. Check the code under the hologram and the batch certificate as described in check your product. We ship within Poland and abroad; outside Poland the cost is quoted individually, depending on weight and destination country. Details: shipping and payments.

Questions

Are there human studies of IGF-1 LR3?

No published human pharmacokinetic study, and no efficacy or safety data for muscle applications. What is known comes from rodent models.

What is the risk most often listed?

Hypoglycaemia, a drop in blood sugar. Suppression of the body’s own growth hormone and IGF-1 axis is also described, in animals.

Why are the vials so small?

The molecule is active at very low amounts, so 1 mg is a full vial. That makes the water volume you add the decisive number.

Is it allowed in sport?

No. The IGF-1 family is prohibited at all times under category S2.
