MGF, 5 mg. MGF, mechano growth factor, is a 24 amino acid variant produced from the same gene as IGF-1 by alternative splicing under mechanical load.

What is in this vial
Both brands of MGF here come in the same 5 mg vial, so the choice between them is a choice of manufacturer and price, not of quantity. The powder has no concentration of its own: it is set when you add the water. This vial with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5 mg per millilitre, and with twice that volume, half as much.
The conversion of an amount into insulin syringe units is worked through in the guide on syringe units, and the rules that change once the powder is dissolved are in storage.
Bio-Peptide as the manufacturer
Bio-Peptide has the widest catalogue of the three brands we stock: it is the only one supplying glutathione, NAD+, GHK-Cu, MOTS-C, SLU-PP-332 and semaglutide, so an order from this manufacturer can usually be filled from one supplier. Every vial carries a code under the hologram and a batch certificate, and how to check both is described on the verification page.
What the evidence says
Its estimated half-life is measured in minutes. No completed randomised trial of administering MGF had been published as of April 2026; the human data are observational. The full account, with the sources and the limits, is on the MGF page, and the background in the guide on MGF and PEG-MGF.
We publish no dosing schedules. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.
Unmodified MGF breaks down in body fluids within minutes, and that instability is the reason the pegylated version exists. Bio-Peptide fills both, in 5 mg vials, so the pair can be compared at equal content.
Concentration in this vial
| Water added | Concentration | Per unit on a U-100 syringe |
|---|---|---|
| 1 ml | 5 mg/ml | 50 mcg |
| 2 ml | 2.5 mg/ml | 25 mcg |
| 5 ml | 1 mg/ml | 10 mcg |
The table is arithmetic and nothing else: it converts the 5 mg in this vial into the concentration you get for a chosen volume of bacteriostatic water. It is not a dosing recommendation, and we publish none.
This vial next to the other MGF vials
The same compound is sold here in one other version: Genheal, 5 mg. The molecule is identical in each; what differs is the manufacturer. Both hold the same amount, so the choice here is the manufacturer and its batch certificate, not the size.
Also from Bio-Peptide in this group
Within Muscle peptides, Bio-Peptide also supplies ACE-031 10 mg, DES(1-3) IGF-1 1 mg and Follistatin 344 1 mg.
Where MGF comes from in the body
The IGF-1 gene does not code for a single molecule. It undergoes alternative splicing, and depending on which stretches are joined, different variants of the protein are made. One of them is the IGF-1Ec isoform, and MGF is the terminal fragment of its E-peptide, 24 amino acids long.
The signal that switches on this variant is mechanical load, hence the name mechano growth factor. MGF is therefore not a separate molecule from a separate gene, but a product of the same gene read differently; this was described, among others, in a paper published in PLOS One.
What the data show and what they do not
The human data available are observational studies measuring the body's own MGF expression after exercise, not the effect of giving the peptide from outside. In addition, one independent laboratory found no proliferative effect on primary human myoblasts, the precursor cells of muscle. That undermines some of the mechanistic claims repeated in sales copy, so we do not write that MGF acts locally on damaged fibres.
MGF and PEG-MGF
| Feature | MGF | PEG-MGF |
|---|---|---|
| In the body | Formed naturally from the IGF-1 gene | Synthetic construct, does not occur |
| Structure | 24 amino acids | The same chain with polyethylene glycol attached |
| Duration of action | Minutes | Potentially days, depending on the size of the PEG molecule |
| Human studies | No completed randomised trials | No completed randomised trials |
Two concentrations with a 5 mg vial
The Bio-Peptide box holds two solvent ampoules.
| Dissolved in | Concentration | Syringe unit | When it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 ml | 5000 mcg per ml | 50 mcg | Less liquid, simpler arithmetic |
| 2 ml | 2500 mcg per ml | 25 mcg | Fine scale for small portions |
The vial holds 5 mg, half of a typical peptide pack, so the ratios come out lower than with 10 mg vials. Check them before the first draw rather than carrying over a habit from another product.
Preparation and storage
Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab and let it dry. Add the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial, not straight onto the powder. Leave the vial for a few minutes and let the contents dissolve on their own, without shaking. Keep the finished solution in the fridge at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, away from light.
Who this vial is for
You want to work with the molecule in its unmodified form: this is the vial. You measure small portions and want a fine scale: two ampoules give 25 mcg per unit. You care about a longer duration of action: take PEG-MGF.
MGF in studies: what was tested in muscle
MGF is a form of IGF-1 that muscle makes itself after loading. In a 2003 study in The Journal of Physiology, its level in muscle rose in young men after a single strength session. In men aged 70 to 82 no such rise appeared. This is one of the observations behind the interest in giving MGF from outside.
| Study | Model | What was found |
|---|---|---|
| Yang and Goldspink, 2002 | myoblast culture | fragment E increased cell proliferation and held back differentiation |
| Fornaro et al., 2014 | mouse and human cells | no effect on proliferation or differentiation |
| Liu et al., 2019 | mice after muscle contusion, MGF injected into the injury | less fibrosis at the injury site, without protecting fibre regeneration |
The newest of these papers is closest to how the use of MGF is usually described. The mice had a muscle injured and were then injected with MGF directly into the injury. The peptide reduced fibrosis, meaning the replacement of muscle with scar tissue. It did not, however, speed up the rebuilding of the muscle fibres themselves.
So the results are mixed. Goldspink's laboratory described an effect on cells, an independent team did not confirm it, and the mouse study showed an effect on scarring, not on fibres. There are no studies giving MGF to humans. MGF is on the WADA list in group S2, banned at all times. This molecule is covered in more detail in the guide MGF and PEG-MGF.

Questions
How much MGF is in this vial?
5 mg of lyophilised powder from Bio-Peptide, in one vial.
What concentration does 2 ml of water give?
2.5 mg per millilitre, which is 25 mcg per unit on a U-100 insulin syringe. Other volumes are in the table above.
Is this the same molecule as the Genheal vial?
Yes. MGF is the same compound in every vial here, and both hold 5 mg. What differs is the manufacturer and the batch certificate that comes with it.
