MGF, mechano growth factor, is a peptide of 24 amino acids. It is not a separate molecule but a variant produced from the same gene as IGF-1: the terminal fragment of the E-peptide of the IGF-1Ec isoform, formed when the gene undergoes alternative splicing under mechanical load. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.

What is in the vial
Bio-Peptide and Genheal supply 5 mg vials; Nouveaux Ltd. lists the pegylated version instead. A 5 mg vial with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5 mg per millilitre. Because unmodified MGF breaks down in minutes in body fluids, the practical question with this vial is not how long the powder keeps but what happens after it is dissolved: see reconstitution and storage.
What is known and what is not
Natural MGF breaks down very quickly in body fluids, with an estimated half-life measured in minutes. As of April 2026 no completed randomised trial of administering MGF had been published. The human data that exist are observational studies measuring the body’s own MGF expression after exercise, not the effect of giving it from outside.
One independent laboratory found no proliferative effect on primary human myoblasts, which undercuts part of the mechanistic claims repeated in commercial descriptions. We do not repeat the claim that MGF acts locally on damaged fibres in humans, because the sources say that data does not exist.
MGF or PEG-MGF
The half-life measured in minutes is precisely the problem that pegylation was invented to solve. PEG-MGF is the same peptide with polyethylene glycol attached, which slows its clearance, potentially to days. It is a pharmacokinetic difference and nothing more: neither form has a completed randomised trial behind it. The two are compared in the guide on MGF and PEG-MGF.
Status
The FDA has not approved MGF for any indication and it is not available on prescription. The World Anti-Doping Agency lists it as prohibited at all times on the 2026 list. We publish no dosing schedules, and the wider context of this axis is in the muscle peptides guide.
