Human chorionic gonadotropin is a glycoprotein hormone produced by the placenta in pregnancy. It has luteinising hormone activity, and in men luteinising hormone stimulates the Leydig cells to produce testosterone, which is where the sporting interest comes from. Sold here as research material, not as a medicine.

What is in the vial

Bio-Peptide and Genheal both supply 5000 IU vials. Note the unit: this is the one product in the catalogue measured in international units rather than milligrams, because that is how the registered medicines are dosed as well. A 5000 IU vial with 5 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 1000 IU per millilitre; the arithmetic is the same as for any other vial, described in reconstitution.

Status as a medicine

Chorionic gonadotropin is the active substance of registered medicines. The Polish register lists Pregnyl 5000 IU, and the recombinant equivalent, choriogonadotropin alfa, is registered in the European Union as Ovitrelle. The Ovitrelle product information states that it is prescription-only and that treatment should be supervised by a doctor experienced in fertility treatment.

Status in sport

The 2026 World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list names chorionic gonadotropin explicitly in section S2.2.1, testosterone-stimulating peptides in males. That entry applies to men; for women it does not apply, unlike section S2.2.4 covering growth hormone secretagogues, where the ban is not sex-dependent.

Why this page has no protocol

Because this is the active substance of a prescription medicine. We do not publish administration schedules, and we do not walk anyone through protocols built around other prescription drugs. Dose selection belongs to a doctor.

This is the clearest case in the catalogue of the distinction the whole shop rests on: the molecule has an approved medical use, a registered product, a defined dose and medical supervision attached to it. A vial of research material has none of those, and the difference is not a formality. The wider legal picture is in the legal status guide and in the legal warning.

Handling and verification

Supplied as lyophilised powder. Storage rules change once it is dissolved: see storage. Check the code under the hologram and the batch certificate as described in check your product. We ship within Poland and abroad; outside Poland the cost is quoted individually, depending on weight and destination country, and prescription rules differ from country to country. Questions

Is HCG a registered medicine?

The substance is: Pregnyl 5000 IU in the Polish register, and the recombinant form as Ovitrelle in the European Union, both prescription-only. This vial is research material.

Why is it measured in IU?

Because that is the unit used for this hormone, in the registered medicines as well as here.

Is it banned in sport?

For men, yes: section S2.2.1 of the 2026 prohibited list names it explicitly. That entry does not apply to women.

Will you give me a protocol?

No. It is the active substance of a prescription medicine, and dose selection belongs to a doctor.
