What is in this vial
It is the only Semaglutide vial in this catalogue. The powder has no concentration of its own: it is set when you add the water. This vial with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 1.5 mg per millilitre, and with twice that volume, half as much.

What the evidence says
In obesity trials at 2.4 mg weekly it reduced body weight by roughly 15 percent over about two years. Against tirzepatide in the only head-to-head trial it reached 13.7 percent against 20.2 percent. How the GLP-1 pathway works
GLP-1 is an incretin, a hormone released by the gut in response to a meal. It stimulates insulin release in a glucose-dependent way, slows gastric emptying and acts on the centres of satiety. Semaglutide is an agonist of this receptor: it imitates the natural incretin, only for longer.
The whole family of incretin molecules rests on the same idea. What separates them is the number of receptors they target: semaglutide one, tirzepatide two and retatrutide three. The wider the set of receptors, the higher the average weight reduction in trials and the more side effects reported.

In SURMOUNT-5, the only head-to-head comparison with tirzepatide, waist circumference fell by 13.0 cm with semaglutide and by 18.4 cm with tirzepatide, alongside the weight figures above. One thing counts in favour of semaglutide: it has the longest record of clinical use in this group and the largest body of long-term safety data, which the newer compounds do not yet have.

Side effects described in trials
Across the incretin group, digestive symptoms dominate: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation. In SURMOUNT-5, 5.6 per cent of people in the semaglutide group and 2.7 per cent in the tirzepatide group stopped treatment because of gastrointestinal symptoms. These are data from a clinical trial run under medical supervision.

Semaglutide and the heart: the SELECT trial
Semaglutide is the active substance of approved drugs, including Ozempic. The numbers below come from a clinical trial of the drug, run under medical supervision. The research material in this vial is not the drug and has neither its label nor its quality control.
SELECT enrolled 17,604 people aged 45 or over with overweight or obesity and previous heart or vascular disease, without diabetes. The trial ran in 41 countries, with a placebo group, for an average of 39.8 months. The results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2023.

Heart protection did not depend on kilograms
The most interesting result came from a 2025 analysis in The Lancet. Heart protection was similar in people who lost a lot, a little or no weight in the first 20 weeks. The reduction in waist circumference explained about 33 percent of the benefit. The authors conclude that semaglutide acts on the heart through other routes besides fat loss itself.
One of these routes may be inflammation. The fall in CRP was visible already after 4 and 8 weeks, before weight fell clearly, and also appeared in people who did not lose weight. Serious side effects were less frequent on semaglutide than on placebo in every weight group. Dosing in this trial was set by the drug's protocol, and choosing a dose is a matter for a doctor.
