What is in this vial
It is the only Tesamorelin vial in this catalogue. The powder has no concentration of its own: it is set when you add the water. This vial with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 5 mg per millilitre, and with twice that volume, half as much.
The conversion of an amount into insulin syringe units is worked through in the guide on syringe units, and the rules that change once the powder is dissolved are in storage.
Genheal as the manufacturer
Genheal covers the growth hormone axis more completely than the other two brands and is the only one here supplying the BPC-157 and TB-500 blend and tesamorelin. Its vials carry a code under the hologram and a batch certificate, checked the same way as any other brand in this shop.
What the evidence says
Approved in the United States as Egrifta in 2010 for reduction of excess abdominal fat in patients with HIV and lipodystrophy. Its own label states it is not indicated for weight reduction. The full account, with the sources and the limits, is on the Tesamorelin page, and the background in the guide on tesamorelin, the only approved GHRH analogue.
We publish no dosing schedules. Sold as research material, not as a medicine.
Concentration in this vial
| Water added | Concentration | Per unit on a U-100 syringe |
|---|---|---|
| 1 ml | 10 mg/ml | 100 mcg |
| 2 ml | 5 mg/ml | 50 mcg |
| 5 ml | 2 mg/ml | 20 mcg |
The table is arithmetic and nothing else: it converts the 10 mg in this vial into the concentration you get for a chosen volume of bacteriostatic water. It is not a dosing recommendation, and we publish none.
This vial next to the other Tesamorelin vials
No other manufacturer here lists Tesamorelin, so this is the only vial of it in the catalogue and there is no brand comparison to make.
Also from Genheal in this group
Within Growth hormone peptides, Genheal also supplies CJC-1295 5 mg, CJC-1295 with DAC 5 mg and GHRP-2 10 mg.
Where tesamorelin comes from
Tesamorelin was developed and approved for one condition: lipodystrophy in people living with HIV. Lipodystrophy is an abnormal distribution of fat tissue, with a large build-up of fat around the abdomen and, at the same time, loss of fat from the face and limbs. The fat that tesamorelin targets is visceral fat, the kind that surrounds the internal organs rather than sitting under the skin.
The molecule works by imitating the body's own growth hormone releasing hormone. It binds to GHRH receptors in the pituitary, and the pituitary responds by making and releasing more of its own growth hormone, which in turn raises IGF-1. Instead of supplying growth hormone from outside, it asks the pituitary to produce it.
What the main trial showed
The trial that stands behind the approval was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2007 (Falutz and colleagues). It included 412 people with HIV and lipodystrophy. After 26 weeks, visceral fat fell by 15.2 percent in the tesamorelin group and rose by 5.0 percent on placebo. Triglycerides and the ratio of total to HDL cholesterol also improved.
| Group | Change in visceral fat after 26 weeks |
|---|---|
| Tesamorelin | Down 15.2 percent |
| Placebo | Up 5.0 percent |
The result concerns that group of patients, not healthy people, and the effect lasted only while the drug was being given: after stopping, the visceral fat came back. That is the honest scale of the evidence, and it is still more than any other peptide in this group can show.
What to watch for
Tesamorelin raises growth hormone, and growth hormone affects how the body handles sugar, so its effect on blood glucose is one of the warnings on the label. Joint pain and swelling from fluid retention are among the effects described. Anyone working with this molecule has to keep those two points in mind from the start rather than discover them later.
Preparation and storage
The Genheal box holds one 1 ml solvent ampoule. Dissolved in it, the 10 mg vial gives 10 mg per millilitre, or 100 mcg per syringe unit. Add the solvent slowly and do not shake the vial; turn it gently until the powder has disappeared. Keep the solution in the fridge at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, away from light.
Who this vial is for
You want the GHRH analogue with the strongest evidence behind it and a registered medicine built on the same molecule: this is the vial, and Genheal is the only brand that supplies it here. You are looking for a short-acting GHRH analogue for a combination with a GHRP: see Mod GRF 1-29 or CJC-1295.
Further studies of the drug with this substance
Beyond the main 2007 trial, the drug containing tesamorelin was tested in further groups of patients. The numbers below come from those clinical studies, run under medical supervision. The research material in this vial is not the drug Egrifta and has neither its label nor its quality control.
| Study | Who and for how long | Visceral fat |
|---|---|---|
| Makimura, JCEM 2012 | 60 people with abdominal obesity without HIV, 12 months | minus 16 cm² against plus 19 cm² on placebo |
| Stanley, JAMA 2014 | 50 people with HIV, 6 months | minus 34 cm² against plus 8 cm² on placebo |
Tesamorelin acts selectively on visceral fat, which surrounds the organs in the abdomen. It barely touches subcutaneous fat. The drug's label calls its effect on body weight neutral, so the effect shows in waist circumference rather than on the scales. In the main trial, waist circumference fell by 3 cm against 1 cm on placebo.
The liver and what happens after stopping
In a 2019 study in Lancet HIV, 61 people with HIV and fatty liver received tesamorelin or placebo for a year. Liver fat fell by 37 percent from baseline. In 35 percent of treated people the liver returned below the threshold for steatosis, against 4 percent on placebo.
The effect lasts as long as dosing continues. People switched to placebo after 26 weeks regained 24 to 25 cm² of visceral fat over the following six months. Dosing in these studies was set by the drug's protocol, and choosing a dose is a matter for a doctor. All the results are described in the guide Tesamorelin and belly fat.
