Growth hormone peptides: 33 products

This is the largest category in the shop: thirty-three products built around peptides that prompt the pituitary to release its own growth hormone. They fall into two families, GHRH analogues and ghrelin receptor secretagogues, and they are often bought as a pair from both.

Everything here is sold as research material. Only one molecule in this family, tesamorelin, is an approved medicine anywhere, and only for a narrow indication. The mechanism of both families is explained in the guide on growth hormone peptides.

Four products contain a GHRH analogue and a secretagogue in one vial: Ipamorelin & CJC-1295 Combo, GHRP-2 & CJC-1295, GHRP-6 & CJC-1295 MIX and the Nouveaux GHRP-2 combo. They save one reconstitution and are priced as a single product; that is their advantage, and it is a practical one, not one shown in trials.

How the two families differ

A GHRH analogue stimulates the growth hormone releasing hormone receptor. It tells the pituitary how much hormone to release. A secretagogue works through the ghrelin receptor and opens the way for that release. Neither supplies growth hormone from outside; both act on the cell that makes it.

That is why they are combined, and why the combination produces a larger pulse than either alone. The reasoning, and its limits, are set out in CJC-1295 and ipamorelin.

Choosing within the secretagogue family

The four secretagogues differ less in the size of the growth hormone pulse than in what else they do. GHRP-6 produces the strongest hunger in the group, starting 15 to 20 minutes after injection. GHRP-2 stimulates appetite moderately and is regarded as the strongest by peak growth hormone. Ipamorelin gives minimal appetite stimulation and does not meaningfully raise cortisol or prolactin. Hexarelin raises cortisol and prolactin in a dose-dependent way.

With DAC or without

CJC-1295 comes in two forms. The version with DAC binds to blood proteins and stays active for days: in a study in healthy adults its half-life was 5.8 to 8.1 days, with IGF-1 elevated for 9 to 11 days. The version without DAC acts briefly and is meant to imitate the body’s own pulses. Same molecule family, different duration, different reason to choose it.

What this category does not promise

Apart from tesamorelin, none of these is an approved medicine. There are no randomised human trials showing that any of them changes body composition, strength or recovery in healthy adults. Ipamorelin has one completed human trial, in postoperative ileus, and it missed its endpoint.

All of them sit in category S2 of the World Anti-Doping Agency list, prohibited in and out of competition. Hexarelin appears there under the name examorelin.

Frequently asked questions

Which peptide in this category is an approved medicine?

Only tesamorelin, approved in the United States in 2010 for reduction of excess abdominal fat in people with HIV and lipodystrophy. Nothing else here is a registered medicine.

Should I buy a GHRH analogue and a secretagogue together?

That is the most common pairing, because the two act on different receptors. There are no randomised human trials of any specific pair, so the rationale is mechanistic rather than proven in people.

Which secretagogue increases appetite least?

Ipamorelin. GHRP-6 produces the strongest hunger in the group, and GHRP-2 a moderate increase.

What is the difference between CJC-1295 with DAC and without?

Duration. With DAC the half-life is 5.8 to 8.1 days; without DAC the molecule acts briefly and imitates natural pulses.
