What is in this box
A pen already filled with tirzepatide solution, 40 mg in total, and six replaceable needles. Most of this catalogue, including the other two tirzepatide versions, comes as dry powder that has to be dissolved, calculated and measured against the scale of a syringe. The pen skips that stage: the liquid is ready from the start and the amount is set with the dial on the pen body.
Six needles do not mean six administrations. A needle is used once and changed every time, and how many administrations the pen gives depends on the amount taken each time. Further needles are bought separately, as with insulin pens.

Storing a ready solution
A ready solution is less stable than dry powder, and that is the other side of the convenience. The pen is kept in the fridge, away from light, and must not be frozen. Powder in a vial tolerates room conditions better for as long as it stays dry. The general rules are in the guide on storage.

In SURMOUNT-1 at 15 mg tirzepatide reduced body weight by 20.9 percent over 72 weeks against 3.1 percent on placebo, and in SURMOUNT-5, the only head-to-head trial in this group, it reached 20.2 percent against 13.7 percent for semaglutide.
