What is in this vial
It is the smaller of the Sermorelin vials sold here, which means less substance standing in solution at a time. The powder has no concentration of its own: it is set when you add the water. This vial with 2 ml of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5 mg per millilitre, and with twice that volume, half as much.

Genheal as the manufacturer
Genheal covers the growth hormone axis more completely than the other two brands and is the only one here supplying the BPC-157 and TB-500 blend and tesamorelin. Its vials carry a code under the hologram and a batch certificate, checked the same way as any other brand in this shop.
What the evidence says
It was approved in the United States as Geref in 1990 and 1997, and the approval was withdrawn in 2009 for commercial reasons, not for safety or effectiveness. Genheal fills sermorelin in 5 mg. Its half-life is on the order of ten minutes, the shortest in this group, which is exactly what the four substitutions in Mod GRF 1-29 were designed to extend.

What sermorelin is
Sermorelin is a GHRH analogue, an analogue of growth hormone releasing hormone. Its other name, GRF 1-29, points to the opening section of that molecule. It belongs to the same group as CJC-1295, Mod GRF 1-29 and tesamorelin, not to the secretagogues acting through the ghrelin receptor such as GHRP-2, GHRP-6 or ipamorelin. The two groups stimulate the pituitary through two different receptors, which is why they are put together rather than used instead of each other.
The history of Geref, confirmed in an FDA document
Sermorelin had full registration as a medicine in the United States, under two separate applications for different indications.

EMD Serono notified the agency in July 2008 that it had stopped making the diagnostic form, and in December 2008 that it was withdrawing the treatment forms. Withdrawal of approval for both applications was announced in May 2009, effective 18 June that year. In a document dated 4 March 2013 the agency stated plainly that Geref was not withdrawn for reasons of safety or effectiveness; the reason was commercial, as recombinant growth hormone took over the market.
Where the line runs
The registration history concerns the medicine Geref, not this vial. Research material contains the same substance but has no established dose, batch documentation or the quality control required of a medicinal product. So we do not write that you are buying a medicine that was once registered. You are buying a substance that had registration in the form of a medicine, and that is a different sentence.
Who this vial is for
You want sermorelin in a classic vial with the solvent in the same box: Genheal adds a 1 ml ampoule of bacteriostatic water. You are interested in a molecule with a documented registration history: sermorelin is one of the few in this category with one. You need more substance in one pack: the Nouveaux Ltd. 10 mg version holds twice as much.
Sermorelin in older men: two studies with numbers
Sermorelin is the first 29 amino acids of the hormone GHRH, which is why studies also call it GHRH 1-29. With age, the release of growth hormone and IGF-1 falls. The pituitary of older people still responds well to GHRH, though; it is rather the signal from the hypothalamus that weakens. Sermorelin supplies exactly that signal.

The first study was carried out by the US National Institute on Aging in Baltimore. The rise in growth hormone, in the size of its pulses and in IGF-1 was significant at the higher of the two doses tested. Fasting blood sugar, blood pressure and blood tests did not change.
In the second study, from Johns Hopkins University, strength improved in the upright row and the overhead press. IGF-1 and body composition, however, did not change. The researchers noted that one injection in the evening worked less well than the two a day in the 1992 study. So it is not only the dose that matters, but also how often it is given.
In the United States, sermorelin was the drug Geref, withdrawn in 2008 for commercial reasons rather than safety ones. The research material in the vial is not that drug. GHRH analogues are covered in more detail in the guide Sermorelin, Mod GRF 1-29, CJC-1295 and tesamorelin.
